Tom Ford, Aperlai, Céline, Isa Tapia

When I first looked at the collections, I didn’t even notice the abundance of Vivian Ward loving boots for fall. There are dozens of them and what you see here is just a small sampling. The thigh-high boot enjoyed a popular season in the fall of 2009, but it sort of fizzled in midst of the “ladylike” collections that came soon after. Four years later, it returns with a vengeance.

Brian Atwood, Vionnet, Casadei, Gianvito Rossi
I love them, of course — especially that croc Aperlai — but in reality, they completely fail as functional footwear.  Where does one wear these things? Plus, for the cost of one thigh-high boot, one could probably get five designer pumps. Other than the financial inconvenience and the fact that my life is not nearly as glamorous enough as these boots require, I kind of love them.
