I hope we all agree that the wedge sneaker has to go. Yes, I’m guilty of hyping it up when Isabel Marant first released them last year, but I had no idea it would become the never ending bastard child of sneakers. Those damn wedges just keep popping up everywhere, procreating at an unstoppable rate.
Now when I see a regular walking sneaker, my heart fills with joy. But then again, what kind of fashion blog would this be if I posted something ordinary? So, let’s talk about the platform sneaker — the other bastard child. This somewhat ridiculous shape we can blame on Prada and, yes, it’s been around at least twice as long as the scary wedge, but it grew on me over time. Here’s a Kenzo espadrille version that looks like it would feel like a pillow for your foot.
Let’s hope I don’t hate these a year from now.
$295 at La Garconne.
PS. Here’s another sneaker espadrille by Loeffler Randall that I also love.
