One of Vancouver’s loveliest boutiques is Violet. Now in its second year, Violet has become a must destination for treasure hunters. The South Granville boutique’s ambiance is very much Parisian, with its loft-like two storey space and pretty decor. When it comes to style inspiration, owner Genevieve Allen takes note from French icons like Brigitte Bardot, Anna Karina and Charlotte Gainsbourg. She describes her clientele as women that “like things that are a bit more whimsical, that tell a bit of a story.”

Along with international designers like Alice By Temperley UK, Paul & Joe Sister, Sachin + Babi and Rachel Comey, Violet carries local darlings like d a c e and Shereen de Rousseau. Freshly arrived – and exclusive – to Violet are Suno and Whit. Currently on the racks is a pure spring explosion: bright colours, bold prints and flowy 70s-inspired silhouettes. “I’d really like to see colour in Vancouver,” says Genevieve (something I wholeheartedly agree with). Celebrating the arrival of Suno and Whit, Genevieve chose her favourite looks from the labels: all bold and difficult to miss.

The brainchild of former Steven Alan lead designer Witney Pozgay, Whit‘s S/S collection takes inspiration from Cote d’Azur with its sailor-esque white and navy themes.

New York-based label Suno is known for its Kenya-produced artisan textiles. With its bravely distinct patterns, this one is definitely not for the wallflowers!

Did I tell you? Violet is lovely! Give it a visit.
