Okay, it’s not that expensive. But still, I can’t really justify it at the moment since a bracelet with an emerald lion head is really not high on my priority list. But it’s so beautiful. I adore Kenneth Jay Lane, the man that popularised costume jewellery and then made it as covetable as the real thing (if not more). Oh, the irony!
He began his career as a shoe designer for Christian Dior while making sparkly baubles on the side. Soon he was creating one-of-a-kind pieces for Elizabeth Taylor (“Liz” to me), Diana Vreeland and Jackie Kennedy. It’s rumored that the Duchess of Windsor (perhaps the most elegant woman of all time?)  was buried wearing his jewels.

She would have liked this one. It’s old school opulence. It says “Look at me. Admire me. I’m dazzling.”
