Peter Som S/S 2011
Love it or hate it, intense make-up colours are all the rage for spring. I’ve already covered some hot and  bright lip colours like Magenta, Honeysuckle and Orange, and now I’m moving on to the eyes. Not for the wallflowers, both of these looks really do require a risk taker. Beware.
Peter Som’s crazy banana eye was created by Tom Pecheux, MAC’s lead make-up artist using MAC Pro Acrylic Paint. In case you’re wondering whether a “normal” person can wear it, check out Rachel McAdams on BeautyEditor.ca (she is kind of “normal”). Looks cool, right?

Derek Lam S/S 2011
Same goes with Pecheux’s other gig for Derek Lam where he used Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Stay-in-Place Lip Pencil in ‘Coral’ as an eyeliner. Well, here is how I would do it as an amateur and still make it look clean and professional. First, apply a kick-ass lid primer, like Smashbox Photo Finish, that gets rid of all the discolouration.

Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer ($22 CAD at Sephora and Shoppers Drug Mart)
Second, get the brightest powder shadow you can find like these MAC’s pigments.

MAC ‘Neo Orange’ and ‘Primary Yellow’ Pigment ($23.50 at MAC)

Third, get a dry-to-wet shadow transformer (I use Paula Dorf) and a great liner brush and start lining!
Paula Dorf ‘Transformer’ ($20 CAD at BeautyMark) and MAC #209 Eye Liner Brush ($21 CAD at MAC)
Love? Hate? Would you wear it?
