F/W 2010
I first came across this brand while studying architecture abroad in Beijing in 2007. I was pleasantly surprised that this smart and hip brand was from China. Nothing against Chinese style: they’ve had it rough for decades. Today’s China has an established fashion industry, with their own versions of every major magazine, supermodels and star designers. After decades of strict communist regime, the underlying focus of many young designers seems to be on the rebirth of individualism. It’s where a label like JNBY (Just Naturally Be Yourself) triumphs with their expressive and innovative — and impeccably tailored — clothing.
I recently had a pleasure of interviewing JNBY Canada’s Visual Director for The Block Magazine (God, I love this job!). Head over to The Block to learn more about the brand.

JNBY is available online at Shopbop.
