CÉLINE “Clasp” calfskin bag (large)
Well, it’s that time at the start of the season when I pick a bag to swoon over and then due to either financial hardship or unavailability, I never end up getting it. While I’ve set my heart on “it” bags like Mulberry’s “Alexa” and “Neely” before, this time I’m going with something very “un-it” and timeless: CÉLINE.

I’m not really a “status” bag type of girl: LV’s “Speedy” cannot be more generic in my opinion, Balenciaga’s “Moto” is overexposed, “Lady Dior” is for old ladies, these days I stay away from Gucci altogether and, although I love the look of Chanel’s “2.55,” it’s kind of been ruined for me by all the slutty hoochie mamas in Top 40 bars and the wannabe Lauren Conrads. Of course, I can’t afford my true love Hermes’ “Kelly,” but I’m always looking at Proenza Schouler, Miu Miu, Chloe, Bottega Veneta and Céline for potential investment. I don’t mind spending $500-800 on cute Marc Jacobs and Phillip Lim bags, but if I’m going to spend $1,500+, it better be something that not everyone else has.

I want something simple. No logos. No random starlets being photographed with it. No frills. Just beauty. This is it.
$2,300 US for the medium size at Barneys and Bergdorf Goodman (arriving in January 2011).
