Marc by Marc Jacobs S/S 2011
Orange lips are the undisputed #1 S/S 2011 trend leader, appearing on at least a dozen major runways at New York Fashion Week, like Marc by Marc Jacobs and Ohne Titel. Sure, it was all the craze last summer too with Prada’s glossy burnt orange but the thing with beauty is that you can change the shade just a touch, make it matte and all of a sudden it has an entirely different look and feel. It’s not rocket science but brilliant nonetheless.
For Marc Jacobs’ irresistible orange pout, make-up artist Dick Page for Shiseido used the Shiseido Perfect Rouge Lipstick in “Daylily” and topped with with some orange pigment powder. Skip the powder and just blot (if you use blotting papers, it will get nice and matte).

And over at Ohne Titel (I love this label!), it was straight up lipstick. Super-genius Gucci Westman used Revlon’s Super Lustrous Lipstick in “Siren.” You may have noticed that I almost always feature Revlon’s lipsticks. It’s simply the best drugstore brand lipstick.

Of course, there are no reasons one shouldn’t start wearing the orange lipstick now. These make-up trends are not as seasonal as they’d like us to believe. Except for bronzer: that should stay in the drawer until June at least.
