I Know What Boys Like
It’s finally here! The long-awaited gift guide to shopping for the men in our lives: husbands, boyfriends, friends, fathers, brothers…. It’s pretty epic: one set done by my most stylish male friend Matt and the other one by yours truly.
Matt, also known as the founder of Vancouver’s best food blog Vancouver Slop (no arguments here), the newly launched Slop Press and Breaking Bread Sessions, a design-focused podcast, selected nine undeniably cool items: a little preppy and a little outdoorsy all at the same time. Definitely the way a Canadian boy should dress!
ALEXANDER OLCH tie ($14o US at Alexander Olch and 145 CAD at Lark)

LOUIS VUITTON Nomade leather billfold (also in black, $465 CAD at Louis Vuitton)
FILSON “Field” bag ($220 US in canvas at Filson, $278 CAD in wool tartan at Roden Gray)

J. CREW vintage fleece pant ($49.50 US at J. Crew)

And my list? Things I think all men should own for those leisurely times. I’m a big fan of the preppy-meets-outdoorsy too: it always reminds me of the Kennedys vacationing in the Hamptons during winter holidays…definitely “Take Ivy.” With stores around Vancouver like Inventory, Roden Gray and Gravity Pope, there are plenty of unique and stylin’ items for the men in your life. I, myself, am pretty obsessed with anything by Gitman Brothers, one of the last remaining American shirt makers. Also, if you have a man on your gift-giving list that likes to cook and happens to be a hip hop buff, you should definitely get Slop Press’ “Steaks is High” apron. Who said domesticity isn’t for the cool ones?

I can just feel the love, girls! Happy shopping!
