You know how sometimes you see something and you just have to have it? For me, it’s usually something cheese related… kidding. Well, even though it might not seem like it after reading this blog, I can usually walk away quite reputably (ie without kicking and screaming) from most items. But not this one. It was magnetic. There was a magical spotlight on them in The Room at the Bay. It was meant to be. Nicholas Kirkwood himself was just there a couple of weeks ago (everything great happens in Toronto). I was in Toronto and we don’t have them in Vancouver. He is one of my favourite shoe designers. It’s a cousin of the electric blue spray paint lace-up that’s bound to make fashion book history… the list of reasons goes on and on. See, it had to be done!

I should also add that The Room is my new favourite shopping destination in Canada. Alaïa, Proenza Schouler, Comme des Garcons, Erdem, Christopher Kane, Sonia Rykiel, Kenzo, Balmain, Matthew Williamson, Pierre Hardy, Charlotte Olympia, Nicholas Kirkwood…. Just imagine what the Boxing Day Sale will be like!
