Anne Hathaway wearing Balmain in Elle UK (December 2010)

Well, none of the dresses this season come close to the Balmain above; the damn thing is so gorgeous, I just had to include it. No worries, there are five very affordable options that also caught my eye. My Vancouver readers will be happy that they are all available in our lovely and equally sparkling city. Holidays do bring a heightened sense of glitter and sparkle.

Badgley Michka’s sequined strapless number with a feathered skirt is epic, to say the least. Imagine how lovely and sexy it is in movement. It’s the one I would want to take out dancing.

Badgley Mischka ($795 CAD at Holt Renfrew)

Theory is known for their clean lines and this dress is no exception. I love the combination of sequins and stripes. It’s so chic and a little bit mod. It reminds me of the early work of Paco Rabanne, who I love.

Theory ($425 CAD at Holt Renfrew)

Parker has a gorgeous copper option to break up the sea of black sequins. A simple t-shirt silhouette can go either dressy or casual, depending on styling. Go check it out in person at Lynn Steven as this picture doesn’t do it justice. It glimmers!

Parker ($370 CAD at Lynn Steven)

The silhouette most similar to the magnificent Balmain is this sexy body-con dress by French Connection. Sure, it lacks the intricate detailing but at this price, who can argue? This dress is pure trouble! Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

French Connection ($299 CAD at French Connection)

If you’re looking for a steal, look no further than this amazing leopard print sequin dress from Lurker by Matix, the streetwear label’s capsule holiday collection. Again, the simple t-shirt silhouette makes this an incredibly versatile piece that one could wear with a pair of skinny jeans or on its own accompanied by killer pumps.

Do I see a little glimmer in your eye?
