Oh Chuck,

You looked so amazing in this episode. Swoon…

Since it is not certain when Gossip Girl is resuming in the new year (some say there are two episodes in January, some say nothing until March), I thought I’d better do an extra special post to keep us fashion porn enthusiasts satisfied until next time. It’s bag porn this week! Sigh.
Well, this episode wasn’t really a good one, plot wise… except for Chuck/Blair’s emotional moment. Most of the other romances seem so rushed. There was a huge build-up to Serena/Tripp affair and it ended with a PACK OF WOLVES! What the hell? No paparazzi, no Page Six blind item? Nothing. Just some lame ‘Ted Kennedy-leaving-the-scene-of-the-accident’ reference and Maureen’s grossly incorrect “I’m Jackie, you’re Marilyn” statement. Oh, how wrong she is!

Serena is not Marilyn. She is a trashy version of Carolyn Bessette: a tall, impossibly gorgeous blond socialite with a penchant for impossibly gorgeous rich bad boys with same pedigrees. I kind of hate Maureen so I’ve been excluding her from the fashion round-up, but I couldn’t resist her gorgeous Louis Vuitton this week.

I’ve also thoroughly enjoyed Tripp’s Hamptons WASP style in this episode. That is how all men should dress for a weekend romantic getaway, right? Hermès combined with Brooks Brothers. So perfect, so Kennedy. Is this the last we see of Tripp?

Serena’s weekend ensemble was right on-point as well. Riding boots and trousers topped with a gorgeous Vince wrap sweater. And her weekender bag? Hermès, I think. I can’t find the exact style but Hermès is notorious for keeping some of the most coveted items off their website. I found some similar styles by Hermès, in case you would like to start travelling ‘old-money style’.

The other gorgeous Serena ensemble was in Chuck’s flashback sequence. How gorgeous was the white cape? Oh my! Did she wear that in the episode when Bart died? Is it from four seasons ago? She seemed kind of mean to Chuck. Hello! His dad is dying, you insensitive bitch!


Equally gorgeous was Lily’s ‘Bart’s dying’ short sleeve coat.

Lily didn’t seem to remember that it was the anniversary of Bart’s death. I mean, I know she didn’t love him as much as she loves Rufus, but they still had some nice moments together. And he was kind of a sexy white fox! What was she doing with Dr. Van Der Woodsen? She certainly keeps a lot of secrets in her many Hermès bags!

Speaking of bags, this week’s Constance Billard storyline revolved around a Valentino ‘Roady‘ bag! And rightfully so! This bag should have its own show!

Jenny makes one very generous friend! I love that she got it with her ‘drug money’. I love that Jenny is the new Chuck. I really love her bad girl style. She will never be ‘Park Avenue’ YSL and she doesn’t seem to care anymore. No headbands for Jenny! Just cute caps.

I also love how she takes super girlie items but appropriates them into her own style. Like this Blair-like Marc by Marc Jacobs jacket with bows all-over it. I wonder if the writers will ever revisit Jenny’s fashion designer storyline. It just seems like a waste of a promising plot line.

There was another great Marc by Marc Jacobs jacket this week but wasted on Vanessa’s unfortunate orgy of contradicting prints. Why Vanessa? Why?

And then there is Blair. Perfect as always. I’ve been drooling over that Alexander McQueen houndstooth blouse for months now and been wondering when it was going to appear on Gossip Girl! The whole black/white ensemble is so stunning, from the Escada coat to the Lanvin pumps! And I cannot not mention the magnificent Valentino ‘Flora’!
