Item of the Week: Bao Bao by Issey Miyake Clutch
I went to Seattle over the weekend just to view “Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion”(more on this tomorrow!) at the Seattle Art Museum, and the exhibit has rekindled my love for Japanese designers. Not that it really needed rekindling, but it’s time for a closer look. This week, it’s all Japanese fashion and beauty.
When it comes to innovation, no one can touch Issey Miyake. He invented new fabrics, pleating and printing techniques — basically, took garment manufacturing to new levels. I love how his things morph with movement. Sometimes, when I wear it, I feel like the clothes are smarter than me — that’s a good feeling. The Bao Bao line is so damn cute.
$195 at Totokaelo.
PS. I’m lucky to own this crazy bag by Miyake.
