Item of the Week: Rag & Bone ‘Grosvenor’ Moto Jacket
What a beauty! One of season’s best colours, Klein Blue (or royal/electric) in form of a wool motorcycle jacket. If there was one piece I recommend this season, it would be a bright wool jacket or a coat. It will make those grey winter days so much more tolerable. Also — and this is for every season — I think a great motorcycle jacket is a must, whether it’s leather, denim or wool. It’s one of those “borrowed from the boys” things that really looks spectacular on women. And, I’m pretty sure Rag & Bone created a perfect jacket, a gorgeous combination of softness and masculinity (plus, you can wear it with blue nails!).
TRIVIA: Do you know why motorcycle jackets are sometimes referred to as ‘perfecto’ jackets? The first motorcycle jacket was designed by Irving Schott of Schott Bros back in 1928, which they named the ‘Perfecto’. It’s the same jacket famously worn by Marlon Brando in The Wild One, John Travolta in Grease, Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing (one of my faves) and The Ramones. In fact, it’s still in production! And there is a women’s version too (as worn by Blake Lively on the cover of Esquire last year). Also quite perfect.
