Thakoon F/W 2011
I’ve always been a big fan of plaid or tartan (whatever you want to call it). When I was a kid, I had a million plaid skirts that I would wear to school, but it wasn’t until Clueless (this is a movie that just keeps on giving) and Cher Horowitz’s colourful Jill Stuart outfits that I realized how fun plaid can really be. I feel that Cher, if she was still plaid-loving now, would definitely wear Thakoon.
Burberry F/W 2011
And she would most definitely wear Burberry’s fuchsia coloured mod pea coat. And, most likely, that dalmatian hat too.
DKNY F/W 2011
DKNY takes on a bit of a prep school kind of a thing with this plaid colour block coat. All in all, fairly traditional patterns mixed together. Notice the fine plaid detailing on the pockets?
Rag & Bone F/W 2011
And Rag & Bone go all Scotland warrior, less Cher, with their big classic tartans. I love the way this skirt wraps around like a quilt.
Rag & Bone F/W 2011 tartan bag ($325 on Shopbop.com)
Also from Rag & Bone is this adorable little bag. I would love to take it on a little winter vacation to Whistler or Banff.
And trend or not, Pendleton always does the best plaids season after season. Of course, there is their super expensive collaboration with Opening Ceremony, but I actually love their classic plaid blankets and accessories. If a coat is too much, go with a hat… or a shoe.
Tartan thoughts? Are you embracing your inner Scot (or your inner Cher) this season?
