Toronto Fashion Week on Vitamin Daily

I just wanted to share a couple of Toronto Fashion Week reports I wrote for Vitamin Daily. While I didn’t see all the shows, from the ones that I did see, these three were hands down my favourite: VAWK, OR by Angela Chen, and LINE. All three were completely different and represent different sides of Canadian fashion.
VAWK F/W 2011
I majorly crushed on Sunny Fong as he crushed the competition on Season 2 of Project Runway Canada. His label VAWK is becoming one of Canada’s premier luxury brands. I absolutely adored VAWK’s collection, with its well-tailored wools and leathers detailed with beautiful knits and furs.
Beauty at Line F/W 2011
To most North Americans, Line needs no introduction. It’s carried in high-end shops and department stores like Saks Fifth Avenue. Their F/W collections is one of the best to date: really pushing knitwear as far as it can go. It was a tightly conceived presentation, with beauty perfectly complimenting the line. I got the backstage scoop from L’Oreal and from Toronto’s nail queen Leeanne Colley.
OR by Angela Chen F/W 2011
I’ve been following Angela Chen’s career closely for the past few seasons. She is a rare, highly conceptual designer that makes very wearable clothes. It’s often difficult to find the middle ground between the two, but she’s got it. I loved her strong emphasis on sculptural knits this season.
