Ballerina Love… and Skirts
Sure, there was Natalie Portman in The Black Swan, but my favourite ballerina moment so far has been New York City Ballet’s Janie Taylor in a dancing editorial and video for The Block/Nowness collaboration. She wears Chloe’s stunning, already pretty much sold-out S/S ’11 collection. Seeing it makes me want to pull out my pointe shoes and twirl all day long, except that I would probably dislocate my knee after more than a decade of not training.
Jaw-droppingly beautiful, right? The way Chloe clothing moves, the sheerness of the fabric revealing Taylor’s spectacular form, a beautiful example what happens when two disciplines collide at their very best.

Of course, others are just as enamoured by ballerinas and their feminine, airy style. Not that full, fluffy or pleated skirts are ever out, but this season there is a plethora of them, from minis to maxis.
It’s difficult to pick a favourite. Probably the Hussein Chalayan at the whopping $830 (but you should see it on the runway!). Or maybe the yellow Tibi maxi. But really, if I were rich, I’d take all of them!
