Sophie Srej at Missoni S/S 2010

Summer is all about tropical colours. After the great response of the “Blushing for Corals” post, I thought I’d expand on coral loving a little further. The two most stunning coral lip shades of the spring season showed up on Missoni and Chanel (couture) runways. They are very different takes on coral: Missoni is soft and pinkish; Chanel is bright and orangey.

For Missoni, make-up artist Lucia Pieroni actually used one of MAC’s cheek colours for the lips. However, MAC does have a shade that’s very close called “Costa Chic.” I also suggest Cargo’s “Evangeline” (yes, dear Lost fans, it’s by Evangeline Lilly) for a bit of a warmer shade.

For their stunning couture show, Chanel introduced a new Allure lipstick shade called “Genial.” It’s a bright and happy coral but it also costs an arm and a leg. For a fraction of the price, I found MAC’s “Vegas Volt” to be just as bold and exciting.

There are a million of coral shades out there. Do you have a favourite?
