Sugary pastels and gleams of silver floated down the runway at the Chanel Spring 2010 presentation. From classic Chanel suits to cocoon-like coats to draped gowns, Karl Lagerfeld created a collection that would make every little girl go green with envy.

When I was a little girl, I cringed at the sight of black, navy and brown. And I’m glad to know that somewhere inside Karl Lagerfeld’s mind was the same sentiment (for this season, at least):

“It’s the first time in my whole career I’ve done a collection without black or navy. There’s not one gold button.”

The silver pearl-encrusted shoes reminds me a little of Cinderella’s lustrous glass slippers (which I so wanted), much more than they remind me of a futuristic Barbarella. Karl might agree: don’t you know that he hates the word ‘futurism’?

“I hate that! I don’t believe in avant-garde clothes for a future that will never happen. Fashion is always now.”

Chanel is the art of pretty.

Did you know that Karl owns 70 iPods? Yes, he does. So it’s no surprise that Chanel fans can now download an official Chanel iPhone application. It’s amazing!
